Sushi is one of my favorite healthy indulgences. Whenever Glenn and I are craving a delicious, yet light dinner in Santa Barbara, chances are you’ll find us at Arigato. As a couple who lives and works together, we make sure to create time for our relationship after hours and enjoy dinners together at our favorite spots. As long-time Arigato regulars, I can say that the atmosphere is lively and the fish is always fresh, but what really sets this place apart is the innovative menu.
Glenn is more of an adventurous eater than I am, and enjoys appetizers such as the gold shot—an uni shooter with ginger, ponzu, and freshly cracked quail eggs—or the local’s only—a unique house specialty that arrives on a flaming platter. I’m a bit of a sashimi fan, so I frequently order the Jalapeño Yellow Tail Sashimi, which has just the right amount of kick. Artful fusion plates like the Su-miso Albacore and the Ahi Carpaccio are wildly popular, while a solid list of more traditional Japanese cuisine is also available.
Whatever I’m in the mood for, I love that I can always find a flavorful, elegant meal that’s high in protein and figure friendly. It’s a great way to do date night while keeping up healthy eating habits. Diet aside, nothing boosts your glow quite like a night out with your love and Arigato’s Salmon Skin salad. So this week, grab your Dahhling and go out for your own lite and delicious bite.
