Throughout this issue we’ve talked a lot about high-vibrational living and how fashion, fun, and self-care can support us in being who we’re meant to be in the world. Now it’s time to dive a bit deeper into our environment, and specifically how the space we work in impacts the work that we do.

Most of the women entrepreneurs I know, myself included, launched their businesses from a home office. For many of us, that “home office” was our dining room table. Wherever you are right now, as you grow and your business blossoms, I encourage you to make the space you’re in an exquisite reflection of you.

For a bit of Parisian inspo, we’ve brought in renowned LA Designer and entrepreneur Shannon Wollack to give us her best design tips and decor selects channeling the City of Lights.

quote03Shannon is one of those fabulous and brave women entrepreneurs who left the comfort of a great job to break out on her own. As a high-level Merchandising and Sales Rep for some of Ralph Lauren’s most exclusive high-end labels, Shannon built a wealth of experience in business, sales, branding, and of course great style. Eventually it was time to go for her passions.

“I started my company, life. style. because I was passionate about not only fashion, but really the style of every day life.” Shannon told us. “My father is an architect and so was my grandfather, so design is kind of in our blood. I started working as a stylist, and helping with people’s homes just came as a natural evolution. As more and more of my work was design-focused, I found a business partner who brought some serious technical skills into the mix, and things just kept growing from there.”

Today Shannon and her business partner have grown the brand into a buzzy design house that works with high-profile home owners and companies. Right now, she’s working on integrating an online shop into their website and designing a fab new cafe, all while in the process of renovating her own house. Enjoy Shannon’s expert ideas and shopping list of items, all hand-picked for the chic woman entrepreneur.

interior-tips
1 Set the Mood
Even though the coffee tables in our homes and offices are covered in gorgeous hardcover books, we always end up back on Pinterest. If you don’t know where to begin with a room, I recommend putting together a mood board of your inspirations—at least ten images to start. It doesn’t even have to be furniture, but anything you’re drawn to.

1

2 Mind the Walls
The quickest and easiest way to transform a room is with a coat of fresh paint. That alone can do wonders for a space. However, if you want to go a step further, wall paper is my favorite game-changer. A lot of people are hesitant about wall paper because it feels like such a huge commitment, but it doesn’t even have to be printed—a subtly colored and textured paper can really add a lot of depth and warmth. Honestly every time we install it, it makes people happy!

2

3 Start With the Big Pieces
The flow of a space is as important as what you put in it. Take really good measurements, double-checking everything, and be thoughtful about what main pieces of furniture you need and how they will fit in the space. You want to have this foundation down before you start layering accessories, which can also be collected over time and switched up to transform the feel of the room.

3

4 Mix High & Low
If you’re on a budget, there are plenty of inexpensive ways to flesh out a room. I love to mix high and low anyway, because while investment pieces are always worth it, I know that in our generation we like to switch things up and aren’t so devoted to maintaining one look over our whole lifetime. You can still get an elevated look by investing in a few key high-end or custom built-in furnishings, and blending in items from retailers like West Elm or CB2. These can be pieces you’ll feel comfortable donating in five years when you’re ready to change up the look.

5 Get Some Guidance
While hiring a traditional interior designer is definitely a financial commitment, today there are great online options that offer design guidance at a more affordable price. There’s Designer Windsor Smith’s elegant Room in a Box service, as well as Home Polish, a fantastic service that connects you with a designer who works to create a plan within your budget for a cost-effective fee.

6 Channel Paris
Parisian design is steeped in elegant, feminine luxury. From La Belle Epoque to the Roaring 20’s to today, the a city has kept a timeless chic about it. To bring that quality into your home office, look for classic furniture pieces in black, white, and gold to serve as a backdrop for opulent, yet understated accessories. Add printed fabrics, a box of macarons and fresh pink peonies for pops of color.
