Behind the Scenes: Gina with Her make up artist Julie Morgan, on location at Les Marchands.

Every year when spring rolls around, I like to take stock of my beauty products, refresh my regime and do a major clean out of my cosmetics case. It’s a routine I highly recommend, because even though we all know our favorite products have an expiration date, few of us actually pay attention to them.

So, while you’re contemplating that yearly closet overhaul and purging all the clutter in your home, why not take a minute to breeze through your beauty arsenal and take stock of what you should toss, keep, and most importantly, add to your makeup mix?

I asked my personal make-up artist Julie Morgan to edit the endless list of new beauty must-haves and share some of her favorite products, all designed to give you a divine glow this season and beyond.

Brush Up
Your key blending brushes, such as your bronzer brush, eye crease and eye-lining brush, should be in top condition for a smooth and sanitary application. When your brushes are over-saturated with product they can create a muddy look. You might also consider picking up some new brushes if your current tools are starting to show signs of wear. Every good artist needs exceptional tools and you’ll be amazed by the difference a good set of brushes can make.

Take Stock
This is a good time to toss out your old mascara and any products where you can see the tin at the bottom showing through. When products are nearing their end there’s a higher chance of breakage and make-up leaking into your beauty bag. Don’t forget to remove anything that’s passed the expiration date, and if you can’t find an actual date, the general rule is to toss any products you haven’t used in a year.
