The Divine Living Lifestyle

Spirituality, Self-Care & Style for the
Woman Behind the Business

One of the first things I teach in the Divine Living Academy is that you cannot give to others if you haven’t given to yourself first. So many of us are raised to live by what I call the “slave girl” mentality, programmed to give to everyone and take only the scraps for ourselves.

We think that if we just keep working harder, something will change. But it’s nearly impossible to transcend survival-mode without opening up to receiving and finally giving to yourself—especially if you’re a coach. People want to learn from someone whose life they’d love to experience for themselves. Being in deprivation serves no one.

Besides, I think we can all agree it’s not the hours at the computer that give us the inspiration, creativity and energy we need to do our best. It’s more often those special times of connection, fun, relaxation and pause that actually move us toward our greatness.

I’m of the opinion that to be successful on our terms, we have to be in the habit of enjoying life, taking time to tune in and expressing our gratitude. To be strong leaders, we have to nurture ourselves emotionally, physically and mentally.

We hope this final installment of the Anniversary Issue inspires you to treat yourself ultra-well as we move into summer. This week we have plenty of ways to do so, whether what you crave is a bit of culture, spirituality or self-care.

Among our best-loved lifestyle stories, you’ll find plenty of ways to relax and rejuvenate, from my favorite end-of-day ritual, to the luxuries of lavender. If you’ve been feeling stressed or overwhelmed at all lately, you might like to try my daily spiritual practice, or learn from my trusted spirit guides.

Those of you who share my passion for culture have a lot to look forward to this week as well. Spend two glorious days in Positano with food expert Aida Mollenkamp, peruse our Girl’s Guide to Opera to learn about Europe’s grandest art, or get to know four iconic artists of Provence.

And if like me, what you’re looking forward to most as the weather warms up is throwing your first outdoor dinner party of the season, consider an Amalfi Coast theme with recipes from the legendary Mama Agata, or select a few bottles to serve from my list of must-have summer sips.

  All My Love,
