Today I’m beyond delighted to share an incredible interview with Sahara Rose, my dear friend who just exudes all things femininity, spirituality, and wisdom. Her powerful, abundant Goddess energy will give you full-blown permission to be yourself. Not only that, but you’ll realize that’s the best way to thrive in life!

If you don’t already know Sahara, she’s a leading voice for the millennial generation into the new paradigm shift. She’s the bestselling author and even Deepak Chopra wrote the foreword for her books. Sarah is also the host of the Highest Self podcast, with over 25 million downloads.

Today we talk about her brand new book “Discover your Dharma”. Sarah will also take us through Ayurveda, different energy types, and the best methods to find your Dharma.

Queen, Sahara is here to remind you of your purpose, so you can embody your sacred mission on this planet. Tune in now.

What Is Ayurveda and How Your Dosha Works

Ayurveda is the world’s oldest health system and the sister science of yoga. When you leave your yoga mat, that’s where Ayurveda starts. It has to do with what you eat, how you meditate, how you take care of your mental and physical health.

Sahara’s journey on this sacred path started with her own health issues. Where Western medicine fell short, she found that Ayurveda, the knowledge of life, could fill the gaps.

Ayurveda’s central concept is that no one food, meditation, practice, or purpose is the same for all of us. It all depends on your archetype, or as they’re called Ayurveda, Dosha. In simple terms, Dosha is your energy type, and there are three types: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha.

The Idea Stage—Vata

People who are quick-moving, creative, artistic, and full of ideas usually fall within the air type, Vata. When you think about air, it flows, it channels, it changes. The shadow side of these types is that you can get overwhelmed, have a lot of different ideas, but don’t know what to focus on.

The gift of Vata people is creativity—they can go through many different passions in their lives. But, the obstacle for them is to take action on something long enough to bring it to life.

However, once you do set up your business, podcast, or Etsy store, you’re not going to jump to the next idea. Now you have a stake in the game, and that ushers a new type of energy.

The Execution Stage—Pitta

When you see someone who’s getting things done and is always active, that’s the fire energy, Pitta. People that fall within this type often act before they think. They are the changemakers, people who manifest reality.

If you’re an entrepreneur, you know that the shadow side of that is burnout and stress. Not only that but when you’re constantly in the fire stage, you can lose your alignment with the truth.

You’re constantly doing, doing, doing, and ten years later, you realize maybe your purpose was somewhere else. To prevent this from happening, we all need to stop and take a pause.

The Revaluation Stage—Kapha

Kapha is the energy of the earth, it signifies a sacred pause. It’s when we step off the hamster wheel to take a deep breath and reevaluate our goals and actions.

For our action-oriented society, this phase is the most difficult. Last year turned out to be the sacred pause that we all needed, so we can move forward with more grace. If you really want to get to the next level, you have to step back. You have to feel the Kapha energy.

Whether you’re one archetype or the other, we all go through different energy phases. To move on from the Kapha stage, there’s no need to jump into Pitta. Sahara’s recommendation is to go back to the idea stage and visualize your next step.

The idea you come up with is going to light a fire in you and you will just naturally take action again.

Dharma Is Your Soul’s Purpose

In Sahara’s new book “Discover Your Dharma: A Vedic Guide to Living Your Best Life”, she sets out to resolve the age-old question: “Who am I really?”

This book will help you find a way forward, especially after 2020. But more than that, it will reveal the true purpose of your soul.

When you think about Dharma, that’s your overarching mission on this planet. It’s different from your career or job or a specific role that you play. For example, your Dharma could be to bring beauty to this world, and you could do that as an artist, mother, designer, or even a wedding planner.

Your Dharma is the red thread that really connects you with who you are and the unique expression that you’re here to carry out in the world.

This book is part of Sahara’s Dharma, which is to raise consciousness to connect people back to their hearts and show them that this spiritual journey can be fun.

The main point she wants you to take away today is that happiness is really the byproduct of living your purpose. You can’t truly be happy until you are living in alignment with your true purpose.

The Three Ways to Get to Your Dharma

The beauty of Dharma is that it’s unique for every person and it will show up differently for everyone.

In Sahara’s experience, there are three most common ways one can step into their Dharma. The first one is to take the leap. That means when you figure out your purpose, you just drop everything and go live out your dreams. For many, that path can be a little bit intense.

For other people, a great way to get to Dharma is a transition. For example, maybe you’re at a job that’s not totally intolerable, but it’s not your purpose. You then start to learn, you take classes, you build up to a point where you can lean into something else more easily.

The third way is often accidental. That means that Dharma finds you while you’re out there, just living your life. And then suddenly, you go to a breathwork class, or you get your hands on a pottery wheel, and you understand, yes, this is actually what I was meant to do.

It’s so important for people to realize that there are many different ways to find your Dharma. Our society often really celebrates people who take risks, but for most of us, we want a more smooth transition. In fact, that’s often a more feminine way of listening to your intuition and being open to receive rather than produce.

It’s time for us to make the feminine our default. We don’t have to be practical, rational, linear in everything we do. These traits are certainly not a guarantee of success. If you listen to your intuition and flow through the natural stages of creation, you will soon find that you’re flourishing in every area of your life!
